On June 11, 2017, the Emmaus High School Class of 2017 walked across the stage at Lehigh University’s Stabler Arena to receive their diplomas. This graduation ceremony is the highlight of the EHS academic year. It is a time for staff, parents, and families to join the graduates in celebrating their successful completion of high school. Joining in this year’s celebration was the returning Class of 1967.
The Emmaus High School Orchestra performed during the processional with Pomp and Circumstance and the National Anthem and the Emmaus High School Chorale performed the Emmaus High School Alma Mater. Twelfth grade principal, Lorie Gamble, introduced this year’s Hall of Fame Inductee, Eric Cichocki. Eric was honored for exemplifying Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Volunteerism throughout his time at Emmaus High School. Eric is ranked in the top 1% in his class and was a National Merit Scholar Finalist, an AP Scholar with honor, a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Spanish National Honor Society. In his academic career, Eric has been recognized with countless awards from multiple departments demonstrating the depth of his passion and knowledge. He has maintained active participation in school clubs and activities including Hornet Ambassadors, and he was Tutor Coordinator for EHS. Eric also exceled athletically as a member of the Basketball team, Baseball team and served as captain of the Golf team. He was selected as the East Penn Conference Scholar-Athlete in all three of these sports for the 2016-17 school year; making him the first triple crown winner in EPC history. This fall, he plans on attending Lehigh University where he will major in Integrated Business and Engineering and participate in baseball.
The graduation ceremony continued with student representatives taking the stage. Class of 2017 President, Brian Mantone; Class of 2017 Representative, Eric Cichocki; Faculty Representative, Declan Schoen; President of the National Honor Society, Julia Bezems; and LCTI Representative, Brandon Durrick captivated their audience with speeches about the events and memories of the past decade that have shaped them into who they are today. After all the graduates were announced, School Board President, Alan Earnshaw, declared the Class of 2017 graduated. We wish the Class of 2017 the best of luck and a lifetime of success and happiness!
