From the Principal ~
Welcome to Eyer Middle School in the East Penn School District. We are very proud of our school and all the people that help make it such a special place. Our students are motivated, well-behaved, pleasant people --- a pleasure to work with each day. The staff are of one mind in their belief that students must first find school relevant and enjoyable before they will really learn. The parents encourage and support us in our endeavors, becoming true partners in their children's educational experience. We believe that the school is a community of staff and pupils working in harmony with parents and the administration. We believe that everyone needs to take ownership of the community. We achieve the vision of a team by behaving as a team.
Eyer has been a Middle School serving students in grades 6, 7, and 8 since September, 1998. The basic curriculum consists of the core subjects Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. These areas are supplemented by instruction in the exploratory areas of Art, Music, Family and Consumer Science, Technology Education, Health and Wellness, and Computers. World Languages are also offered in 8th grade. We have a strong team approach in the core subjects to provide students with greater support and a sense of security. The team concept enables teachers to work collaboratively in planning curriculum delivery, and providing student assistance.
Eyer was opened in 1974 and is situated on a campus with Shoemaker Elementary School and Macungie Elementary School. Our school population is slightly below 800 students. We are situated in the growing rural/suburban area of Macungie, Pennsylvania. The Eyer commitment to our community and our students will be continued effort toward maintaining a positive learning environment as the school grows in size and population.
We want our students to leave our school knowing that we treated them as individuals; listened when they needed us; cared about their problems; enabled them to succeed academically, emotionally, and socially; and that we were more than just teachers, we were mentors and advisors. Above all we made school a place worth coming to.
