WINTER

How to Talk to Your Snowman
by Beverly McLoughland
Use words that are pleasing,
Like: freezing
And snow,
Iceberg and igloo
And blizzard and blow,
Try: Arctic, Antarctic,
Say: shiver and shake,
But whatever you never say,
Never say: Bake.
WINTER CLOTHES
Under my hood I have a hat
And under that
My hair is flat
Under my coat
My sweater's blue
My sweater's red
I'm wearing two
My muffler muffles to my chin
And round my neck
And then tucks in
My gloves are knitted
By my aunts
And pants
And pants
And boots
And shoes
with socks inside
The boots are rubber, red and wide
And when I walk
I must not fall
Because I can't get up at all!
by Karla Kuskin

I'm A Little Snowman
(Tune: I'm a Little Teapot)
I'm a little snowman,
Short and fat.
Here is my nose
And here is my hat.
When the sun comes out,
I melt away.
But when it's cold,
I'm here to stay!
I'm a little snowman round and fat,
Here are my mittens,
Here is my hat.
Add a little scarf
And a carrot nose.
I stand so tall
When the cold wind blows.
A Sledding We Will Go
(Tune: Farmer In The Dell)
A-sledding we will go,
Across the ice and snow,
Hi-ho, we're on our way,
As over the ice we go!
Perhaps we'll see a whale,
He'll wave at us with his tail,
Hi-ho, we're on our way,
As over the ice we go.
By Kathy Gage

Oh, We're Going To Build a Snowman
(Tune: She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain)
Oh, we're going to build a snowman everyone.
Yes, we're going to build a snowman everyone
Oh, we're going to build a snowman. We're going to build a
snowman.
Yes, we're going to build a snowman everyone.

Mittens
Poem:
Thumbs in thumb place, fingers all together.
This is the song we sing in mitten weather.
Doesn't
matter whether they're made of wool or leather.
Thumbs in the thumb place, fingers all together.

Snowflake
(to the tune of "I'm a Little Tea Pot")
I'm a little snowflake, Look at me.
No other snowflake is just like me.
I am so unique, as you can see.
And just as special as I can be.
I'm a little snowflake white and round
I don't make a sound as I fall to the ground
When you look out your window you will shout
I'm putting on my gloves and going out.
Snowflake Dance
(Sung To: "Are you Sleeping")
Dance like snowflakes, Dance like snowflakes
In the air, In the air
Whirling, Twirling snowflakes, Whirling, Twirling
snowflakes
Here and there, Here and there
Dance like snowflakes, Dance like snowflakes
In the air, In the air
Whirling, Twirling snowflakes, Whirling, Twirling
snowflakes
Here and there, Here and there

It's Snowing!
to the tune of "Ten Little Indians"
Snowflakes falling down, down, down,
Snowflakes falling down, down, down,
Snowflakes falling down, down, down,
Falling to the ground.
Watch them growing deep, deep, deeper,
Watch them growing deep, deep, deeper,
Watch them growing deep, deep, deeper,
Falling to the ground.
Children playing--snow is fun!
Children playing--snow is fun!
Children playing--snow is fun!
Falling to the the ground.
Catching snowflakes on my tongue
Catching snowflakes on my tongue
Catching snowflakes on my tongue
Falling to the the ground
Now it's getting warmer, warmer.
Now it's getting warmer, warmer.
Now it's getting warmer, warmer.
Melting all the snow.
Very soon it disappears,
Very soon it disappears,
Very soon it disappears,
Now the snow's all gone.

The Frost Song
to the tune of "The Farmer in the Dell"
The frost is in the air.
The frost is in the air.
It's wintertime, It's wintertime,
The frost is in the air.
The frost is on the trees.
The frost is on the trees.
It's wintertime, It's wintertime,
The frost is on the trees.
The frost is on the roof.
The frost is on the roof.
It's wintertime, It's wintertime,
The frost is on the roof.
The frost is on the ground.
The frost is on the ground.
It's wintertime, It's wintertime,
The frost is on the ground.
The frost is on my toes
The frost is on my toes.
It's wintertime, It's wintertime

It's wintertime, It's wintertime
The frost is on my nose.
Build a Snowman
to the tune of "Oh My Darling Clementine"
Build a snowman,
Build a snowman,
Build a snowman,
Big and round.
Shape three snowballs, different sizes
Stack them tall, off the ground.
Dress the snowman,
Dress the snowman,
Dress the snowman,
Big and round.
Dress him in last winter's clothing,
Tie his scarf all around.
When the sunshine,
When the sunshine,
When the sunshine,
Shines so bright,
Watch him melt and disappear
Disappear into the ground.
