Homework/Independent Practice

Children who miss an assignment, will receive a yellow or a red on their "behavior light" for being prepared. We strive for organization and responsibility in grade three! Children will also not be allowed to participate in Homeworkopoly for the week!

In third grade, you can expect your child have approximately a 1/2 hour of homework a night. Many times this does not include independent reading time. Your child needs to be reading nightly, even if they do not have a particular book that needs to be read for school.

Your child has a homework folder in their Lion Notebook. This is where your child should be placing their homework on a nightly basis. Please encourage your child to be organized! Also, in their Lion Notebook is an assignment sheet. Each day we write our homework assignments and other important reminders on this paper. Your child's "behavior lights" are also displayed on this page. I will sign this paper daily, and I cam asking that you do the same!

Homework gives our children the opportunity to practice skills on their own. Children should be encouraged to complete homework independently, however, it is okay for parents to check it! If your child is spending an unreasonable amount of time on an assignment, or seems to be having a great deal of difficulty completing it, that means we need to spend a little more time practicing! Please jot a quick note to me on the homework or on their assignment sheet so I can spend some more time reviewing!
