EPSD Elementary Orchestra

Hornet violinist

Welcome to Elementary Orchestra!

The East Penn Elementary Orchestra is made up 4th and 5th grade string students with one year of string-playing experience. We rehearse every Wednesday after school at Shoemaker Elementary.

Orchestra provides an introductory ensemble experience for most students, during which they learn ensemble playing skills, how to follow a conductor, basic musicianship skills and development of their individual playing skills. The culmination of this experience is a spring concert that combines all the skills learned throughout the year and showcases them.

The strings program is for 4th & 5th grade students who have no prior playing experience on an orchestral string instrument.  Students receive one year of lessons, learning the basic of playing an instrument.  After completeing a full year of lessons, students are eligable to paraticpate in the orchestra.
