WESCOSVILLE GOES GREEN
Listen up Wescosville...We are going green!! This year the Wescosville community is trying to make the world a better place, one school year at a time. This year we want to concentrate on energy usage and recycling. Our fifth graders have formed an energy patrol team. They periodically go around the school to monitor energy waste and conservation. The students check for lights, proximas and monitores to be turned off so that we are saving energy. The next step in our process will be for the waste to be reduced by doing more recycling. Don't forget to think green in your home. Make sure to turn off the lights when no one is in the room and be aware of your computer moniors. Parent volunteers are welcome to join our school committee. Email Mrs. Evans if interested evanslis@eastpennsd.org.
RECYCLING PROGRAM
Did you know that you can recycle paper, newspapers, catalogs, magazines, junk mail, weekly advertisement circulars, TV Guides, folders, construction and poster paper, shredded paper, spiral notebook/theme books, office and school mail 24 hours a day 7 days a week at Wescosville School? (If dropping off shredded paper - please put in a bag. If dropping off theme books - please take off the front and back hardcover - the metal spiral may remain intact. You do not need to remove staples from paper. Please no cardboard or phonebooks).
Did you also know that we earn money for paper that is dropped off at our green and yellow recycling bins? Our recycling bins are located as you enter the main parking lot. This is an easy way for you to recycle your paper every week and help us raise money for computers, playground equipment, library books or class trips. It is easy to get started - just place an empty box near your trash can at home and place your paper in the box! Bring your paper to school once a week!
Let your neighbors know they can contribute to our school as well! Do you know of a local business? Or a local print shop, grocery store or post office? Ask them to bring their paper to our bins! There is no financial commitment from you, just bring us your paper! For more information, log onto www.PaperRetriever.com. Please remember to bring your paper and drop it in the Abitibi Recycling Bins weekly. We will update you on our paper recycling progress! Thank you for your year-round support of this important fundraising effort! Every time our bin is full - our school saves 17 trees from being cut down, 7,000 gallons of water, 390 gallons of oil and 60 pounds of air emissions! Don't throw this piece of paper away, recycle it today!

Trashion Show
The Trashion Show is a judged trashion-fashion competition which will be held on Wednesday, October 21st. Gifted students from Wescosville and Alburtis in grades 1 - 5 designed and created their own original garments out of 80% post-consumer content materials. Students will strut down our "green" catwalk in front of our panel of judges. Mr. Moyer, Mrs. Free, and Dr. Renaldi will determine a first, second and third place winner. Our trashion show message is one of planet conservation and stewardship, while highlighting the notion that one person's rubbish is another's fashion masterpiece. Students from both schools will come together to show off their ingenuity and imagination in the form of this unique trashion-fashion show. Online voiting will follow the show. Students and their families will have an opportunity to vote for best craftsmanship, best use of recycled plastic, best use of recycled objects, best green trashion design, and most fun to look at.
