Dear Parents/Guardians of students who have medication in the Alburtis health office,
Your child has medication in the school health office. Your child is not allowed to carry medication to or from school as per East Penn School District Policy. The only exception is for those students who have completed the necessary requirements to carry their own inhaler, epinephrine auto-injector, or sunscreen. Medication may not be stored in the school between the end of the current school year and the beginning of the next school year. Parents of students who attend the Extended School Year program must pick up medication and deliver to the health room in the assigned building at the start of the program.
Please arrange for either yourself or another adult to come to our school to pick up the medication before the last day of this school year or within 30 minutes after dismissal on the last day of school. At that time, all medications left in the Alburtis health room will be transported to the Emmaus Police Department for disposal in the designated safe disposal receptacle as part of the Pennsylvania Drug Take Back program.
If you anticipate that your child will require medication in the next school year, you may download an Authorization for Medication form which can be located in the Parent Portal on our district website under Forms and Documents. Look for Authorization for Medication in School/Medication Procedure. New medication authorization is required for each school year. Forms must be dated after July 1 of the current year, for example, a form for the 2019-2020 school year must be dated after July 1, 2019.
