Thanks to a generous grant from Burlington, Alburtis Elementary School is planning to use a portion of those funds to enhance our playground and the students’ recess experience. It has been 14 years since our school was built and the playground is in need of some additional equipment and upgrades to make recess more productive for our students.
Studies show that students who are active have greater attention, faster cognitive processing speed, and perform better on standardized academic tests than students who are less active. Play can help children build confidence, resolve conflicts, and become leaders.
Let’s build a playground that will lead to greater recess time. A great recess means fewer fights, fewer injuries, and fewer trips to the principal’s office – and students coming back to class ready to learn. Recess can be a time for children to gain the experiences that prepare them for success in and out of the classroom.
How can you help? Beginning conference week, look for the “Pump Up the Playground” jug outside the office. Add your loose change or any donation to help us add to our playground building account. No donation is too small to help our venture. Donations can be accepted from family members, friends or companies who are interested in seeing our children have a great recess experience.
Thanks for your help in “Pumping Up the Playground” at Alburtis Elementary School!!!
