Reading Adventure Night is almost here!!! It will be held on Friday, February 22nd at 6:30 PM. The theme for the night will be “Reading Saves the Day”. This is a chance for families to sit back, relax and enjoy books about heroes read by our volunteer storytellers. To add to the fun, we dim the lights throughout the school. The children are asked to bring flashlights from home to make their way through the hallways. We are looking for volunteers to make this night a success! We need readers and decorators.
Readers choose a book about a hero (fiction or non-fiction) that is appropriate for the assigned grade level (k-2 or 3-5). They coordinate the room décor with a decorator to set the stage for their story. Readers “perform” for four groups the evening of Reading Adventure Night. Each group is about 15 minutes.
Decorators coordinate with the reader to see what they would like to transform their reading space into the setting of the story. Decorations are prepared by the decorator any time before the evening and set up after school on Reading Adventure Night. After the event, the decorator takes down any decorations and makes sure the classroom is returned to normal. The decorator does not need to stay in the room during the reading time.
If you have any questions or are interested in being a HERO to help make this the best Reading Adventure Night EVER, please contact Mrs. Confer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
