On Tuesday, October 18, five females from Emmaus High School attended the Second Annual Girls in STEM Symposium. More than 100 students from 10 regional high schools attended the event. The young women had the opportunity to network with multiple Kutztown University professors and students from various STEM departments as well as representatives from many Lehigh Valley companies who employ professionals in STEM areas. There were then four panelists representing a variety of fields who answered questions posed by the girls in attendance including— what it is like to be a female in a STEM field? were there challenges encountered along the way? what was their educational path? what advice could they share with the next generation of females entering STEM majors?
