Congratulations for the achievements of the following members of the PA Math League 2017-2018:
PA Math League~ The Emmaus team finished 9th among 100 high schools in Pennsylvania.
Bradley Klemick, grade 12, had our highest cumulative score. Our other school grade level winners
were Patrick Kuzdzal, grade 11; Ishaan Lal, grade 10; Geoffrey Kleinberg, grade 9.
TSA (Technology Student Association) TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics
and Science) Competition 2/20/18~
PA Math League members organized 2 teams, each with 8 students, and competed at the Bucknell
In the Multiple Choice Problem Solving portion of the contest, Team A placed 2nd in Pennsylvania,
and Team B placed 11th, among 70 schools. Both teams qualified for the National Competition in
TSA TEAMS provides an annual competition for middle and high school students designed to help
them discover their potential for engineering. Using science, technology, engineering and mathematics
(STEM) and 21st century learning skills, students work collaboratively to solve real-world engineering
The TEAMS competition is based on an annual theme. The theme for 2018 is “Building a Better Environment”
Students prepared for the state contest by researching topics such as green engineering,
material strength, and solar energy cost reduction. Each team researched and wrote an essay on
making Emmaus High School a greener building. At the contest teams competed to quickly design a
structure out of plastic straws that would be as high as possible and bear the weight of a tennis ball.
Bucknell U John Gold Math Contest 3/14/18 ~The Emmaus team (Ishaan Lal, Bradley Klemick,
and Millan Patel) won 2nd place among 23 schools, with a team score of 57. Among 124 individuals
Ishaan came in 5th , and Geoffrey Kleinberg, Bradley Klemick, and Millan Patel received Honorable
Millersville U Math Contest 3/28/18~ The Emmaus team (Ishaan Lal, Cindy He, Bruce Wu, and
Tina Zhang) won 4th place and Ishaan placed 2nd among individuals.
