Elite Cubers from Willow Lane Elementary School in You CAN Do the Rubik’s® Cube Speed League
[Macungie, Pa.] — [06/11/18] — Students of Willow Lane Elementary have solved Rubik’s Cubes in record time. As participants at the North American School Rubik’s Cube Championship in Philadelphia, PA, Ryan Gerhart and Brighton Yu each solved a 3×3 Rubik’s Cube in an average time of 41.8 and 42.0 seconds, respectively, during the competition. Gerhart is ranked 2nd and Yu is ranked 3rd in Pennsylvania among elementary school students at You CAN Do the Rubik’s Cube competitions during the 2017/18 school year.
“I am impressed with their overall tenacity and desire to persist and achieve,” said Mrs. Julia Dweck, their gifted support teacher.
Blistering speed has earned Gerhart and Yu “Elite Cuber” status and top spots in the You CAN Do the Rubik’s Cube Speed League. The Speed League is the national leaderboard of the fastest elementary, middle and high school teams and solo competitors in the U.S. who have solved the Rubik’s Cube during You CAN Do the Rubik’s Cube competitions. The leaderboard shows the rank, school and time of the fastest teams and solo competitors. Results can be filtered by event, state, date, and/or division (kindergarten through fifth grade – division 1, sixth through eighth grade – division 2, and ninth through twelfth grade – division 3).
