Dear East Penn Families,
Thank you for your continued support of the East Penn School District. As an administrative team, we have been working throughout the summer to safely return all students and staff.
It is important for us to make sure that a safe learning environment can be achieved in our school buildings as outlined in our EPSD Health and Safety Plan. Our goal was to make face-to-face learning possible for all students.
Unfortunately, our reopening plan has been complicated by staffing issues. In an effort to refocus the resources that we do have to serve our youngest learners, the East Penn School District will begin the school year on August 31st in the following models:
- Fully remote instruction only for all secondary students.
LMMS, Eyer, and EHS will still bring in smaller alphabetical cohorts to our buildings, as communicated by principals, for an orientation the week of August 31st-September 3rd.
- Hybrid instruction and fully remote option for all elementary students.
All secondary professional staff will report to their home building for remote instruction. Secondary support staff will also be reporting to buildings; however, there may be some movement to fulfill our staffing needs at the elementary level.
Our goal is to return our middle and high school students back to school buildings for the hybrid model of learning on October 26th with an option for any secondary student to remain fully remote.
This information will be communicated with the East Penn community today at approximately 3 PM. We look forward to your continued support this fall as we navigate this difficult time.
