We would like to express our concern over the recent events following the tragic death of George Floyd as well as other racially motivated incidents that are occurring. These events reflect the magnitude of sadness, anger, and fear within our country and our community. As a district, we denounce words or actions of hate in our schools.
We share concern over how these events are impacting our students. Respect, kindness, and compassion have always been part of our values, but what recent events have reaffirmed to us is the importance of listening and speaking out. Racism, discrimination, and hate have no place in the East Penn School District. We look to ourselves to continually examine issues of inequity and make sure all students have access to the resources, programs, and experiences that they need.
In addition to recent issues, we recognize that we are all still dealing with the daily emotional, mental, physical and economic effects of COVID-19. We want to assure our school community that our district is committed to supporting each other through this difficult time. If you are in need of support or resources, please contact your building principal.
We continue our work to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students. As we move into summer, be safe and please know that we are here for you.
