Dear Community,
On Monday July 11, 2016, the Lehigh County Municipal Emergency Response Team (MERT) will conduct a team movement training session at Emmaus High School from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This routine training is conducted each summer at facilities throughout the Lehigh Valley. The training will involve approximately 20 police officers and emergency management personnel from municipalities and boroughs within the Lehigh Valley. Personnel will be dressed in emergency camouflage attire and will carry weapons with no ammunition, nor will simulated ammunition be used. Police vehicles will be parked in the front and side parking lots. The training itself will take place on the 3rd floor of EHS and will not interfere with summer programs for students on the first and second floors. Those students and their parents have been notified. At the conclusion of the training, MERT personnel will be given a complete tour of the high school to become familiar with the layout.
This training benefits both law enforcement and the school district by improving student safety during a potential emergency.
Sincerely,
Mike Schilder
Superintendent
