A reminder to the public that all cases that appear on our dashboard are self reported by our staff, students, and families. For accurate information on cases within our school community at large, please see the PA COVID-19 dashboard and search by zip code. Certain zip codes are not solely East Penn School District, but this is the best way to ascertain local conditions. We have been updating our board with zip code data since November, after the original Health & Safety Plan presented in July, and will continue to post that monthly update here.
There are two purposes for the district’s COVID dashboard
- To clearly communicate confirmed COVID cases that had a presence on our school campus. For example: staff reporting to work, students attending in-person instruction, or any student or staff present through activities or sports.
- To accurately communicate the cases counts of individuals present on our campus which may result in a building closure based on PA DOH and PDE guidelines.
Prior to the new year, the district would communicate “hybrid” or “remote” status in our case counts on our public dashboard. This labeling was associated with our learning modes. Moving forward, the district will communicate whether a confirmed positive COVID-19 case was “present” or “not present” on the school campus within ten days of either the start of Covid-like symptoms or receipt of a positive result. This reporting aligns to the case count process for building closures. The district will continue to complete school-related close contact tracing and report that information directly to the department of health on a daily basis.
The archived 2020 dashboard with “hybrid/remote” status will be linked out from the 2021 dashboard with the new change in reporting; however the running total of staff and student cases will be maintained for the entire 20-21 school year.
