Willow Lane Elementary teacher, Matthew Weimann and his daughter, Scarlet, have published a book called “Scarlet’s Superpower.” The book is a short picture book that even older kids can appreciate. It is about Scarlet being deaf. She can hear with the help of cochlear implants, but without them she can’t hear a thing! Instead of this being a negative disability, the story shows how NOT hearing can be an advantage. It is supposed to help kids experience disability in a positive light.
The book is only available online right now. They are working on getting it in paperback. The download is FREE! You can only download it on an apple device, for now.
