Congratulations to the Shoemaker Community Service Club for successfully completing and organizing many amazing projects this year. In total, Shoemaker students have donated: 736 school supplies for one of the flooded out schools in Texas; 537 jars of peanut butter & jelly and boxes of macaroni and cheese; $200 for breast cancer research; 244 toys for Toys for Tots; 135 coats, 61 scarves, 95 pr/gloves; 192 hats, 12 blankets, 2 pr/boots, 3 snowpants, & 2 pajamas for the homeless and low income families in Whitehall and Philadelphia. They raised close to $1000 for the Puerto Rico hurricane relief fund, collected 201 items for Forgotten Felines and Fidos, and raised $5,654.45 for Pennies for Patients Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. These are all amazing accomplishments!
The Community Service Club members also do projects on their own. This year the members raised $522.94 for UNICEF, $305 for the Heifer Project, and they will be doing Nothing but Nets to fight malaria later this month. Also, they run the school store every Friday and their profits are given to several charities that they choose. They already have given $500 to the Allentown Rescue Mission and $50 to the Girl Scout troop’s project for the children’s wing of LVH. All of the remaining profits will be donated to the National Diabetes Foundation. Way to go, Shoemaker Community Service Club!
