On June 10, 2018, the EHS Class of 2018 walked across the stage at Lehigh University’s Stabler Arena to receive their diplomas. This graduation ceremony is the highlight of the EHS academic year. It is a time for staff, parents, and families to join the graduates in celebrating their successful completion of high school.
The Emmaus High School Orchestra performed during the processional with Pomp and Circumstance and the National Anthem. The Emmaus High School Chorale performed the Emmaus High School Alma Mater. Dr. Kate Kieres, Principal of Emmaus High School, welcomed the crowd and introduced the members of the Class of 1968. Dr. Kate Kieres and Dennis Ramella honored the Corradetti family with renaming the EHS Academic Hall of Fame Award to the Dr. Herman Corradetti Academic Hall of Fame Award. A permanent plaque will be placed at Memorial Hall in Memorial Field to mark this special honor. Twelfth grade principal, Tabitha Rodriguez, then introduced this year’s Dr. Herman Corradetti Academic Hall of Fame Award inductee, Sandhya Sriram. Sandhya was honored for exemplifying scholarship, leadership, service and volunteerism throughout her time at Emmaus High School. Sandhya is ranked in the top 1% in her class with a GPA of 4.5987. She was a National Merit Scholar Finalist, AP Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the French National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. In her academic career, Sandhya has been recognized with countless awards from multiple departments demonstrating the depth of her passion and knowledge. She has maintained active participation in school clubs and activities including:
- National Chemistry Olympiad Finalist in 2016 and 2017.
- Participant in the Technology Student Association TEAMS National Competition
- Participant in the Science Olympiad
- Recognized by The Women’s Club of Emmaus as “Girl of the Month” for her achievements in the area of Mathematics
- Principal Chair and elected President of the Emmaus High School Orchestra
- Member of the PMEA Northeast Region Orchestra.
- President of the Interact Club
- Active in the Global Youth Leadership Program, Camp Camelot and the Angel Network.
- Received a Varsity Letter for Tennis in 2016.
This fall, Sandhya plans on attending Cornell University where she will major in Computer Science.
The graduation ceremony continued with student representatives taking the stage. Class of 2018 President, Joel Sanchez; President of the National Honor Society, Michael Brennan; Class of 2018 Representative, John Sigafoos; and LCTI Representatives, Kayley Fry and Rachael Miller captivated their audience with speeches about the events and memories of the past decade that have shaped them into who they are today. After all of the graduates were announced, School Board President, Alan Earnshaw, declared the Class of 2018 graduated.
