In consultation with law enforcement representatives, we have been reviewing our safety procedures and responding to suggestions or concerns that have been brought to us by students, parents, and school staff.
There are some substantial changes that will go into effect on Monday regarding entrances to the school building at the beginning of the school day.
Beginning on Monday, March 5th, there will be only two entrance areas open for students upon arrival at school.
The first, and primary, area for most students is the locker commons and auditorium entrance. Students arriving on buses, being dropped off by parents, and parking in the student lots will enter through those doors.
The second entrance for walkers and those students who park on Pine Street will be the entrance to the cafeteria that faces Memorial Field. This is the door directly next to the stage in the cafeteria.
Please note that the only designated location on our campus for students to be dropped off is in the auditorium/bus channel area on Harrison St. The parking lot behind the cafeteria can not be used for drop off.
There are a few limited exceptions in place, as follows:
- Students who access specialized transportation/buses and are dropped off in the old bus circle on Macungie Avenue will continue to be met by their teachers and supporting staff members and escorted into the building.
- Additionally, students with significant mobility issues who are currently buzzed in through the main office may continue doing so.
As is currently the case, all students who arrive late to school and do not have a late arrival privilege on their schedules will continue to report to the main office. Procedures for students with late arrival privilege will not change.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to enhance the safety and security of our school building. Should you have any questions about these changes, please call our main office at 610-965-1650. Thank you!
