Community Update – June 2022
Freshman and New Student Orientation – NEW DATE- Wednesday August 17, 2022 –
We are excited to meet our new students and we hope they can join us at our orientations. Additional information will be provided closer to the date. Please save the date and we hope the new students
can join us for a morning of fun and informative orientation activities.
New Counselor and Assistant Principal Distribution– The counselors and assistant principals will
be redistributed so that each student and family have one team of professionals to support and
guide each student at EHS. Students will be divided by last names so that families will have one
counselor and one principal to contact and work with for questions, concerns and support for their
student. In addition, Mr. Pizzico has accepted a position at another school so his students will be
supported by the following counselors until his replacement is determined:
● Mr. Pizzico’s 10th grade students can contact Ms. Bonney or Ms. Burk
● Mr. Pizzico’s 9th grade students can contact Ms. Demchak or Mr. McInerney
● Mr. Pizzico’s 11th grade students can contact Mr. Wood or Ms. Greene
● Mr. Pizzico’s 12th grade students can contact Ms. LaBar or Ms. Grim
Hornet Homeroom– In addition to one counselor and principal, each student will have a “home
base” called Hornet Homeroom. This small group of students and one teacher will be meeting every
day for academic support time and to build connections within the group. This time will be used to
complete school work, get specific help when needed, and to make up work. This Hornet
Homeroom will be a 35 minute block of time in the middle of each day.
Hornet Huddle– Once a week on Thursdays, during Hornet Homeroom, the students and
homeroom teacher will focus on community building activities that help to foster positive
relationships and have some fun together! This is also a great time to have conversations about
timely matters throughout the school.
Senior Late Arrival and Early Dismissal – This year, the Class of 2023 still has the opportunity to
arrive late or leave early depending on the availability of classes in their schedules. Seniors must
have their own transportation and improved check-in and sign out procedures will be explained
closer to the start of the school year.
Junior Early Dismissal– This year, the Class of 2024 still has the opportunity to leave early (4th block)
if their schedules allow and if students can provide their own transportation. Sign out procedures
will be explained prior to the start of the school year. Freshman and sophomores will be expected to
attend full days and remain in the building for all blocks. Freshmen and sophomores are not eligible
for late arrival or early dismissal.
