Eyer Students and Families,
Thank you for your continued support of the Eyer online learning program and EPSD Continuity of Learning Plan. Below, please find information regarding PHASE 3 of the online learning plan which will begin on Monday, April 20th. As always, please continue to reach out to your child’s teachers, counselors, and administrators if you need help or support.
The main changes occurring during Phase 3 of our plan, relate to grading and feedback.
Beginning next week, teachers will enter assessments into PowerSchool. These assessments will receive a mark of “Collected” or “Missing.” This will tell you whether a child has submitted the required work. In addition, the teacher will add a comment that states the level of mastery a student demonstrated on an assessment target. There are four (4) levels of mastery that can be communicated in the comment: Met Target; Approaching Target; Limited Progress: No Evidence. This will help you and your child monitor how well they performed on an assessment.
Final end of year grades for core classes will be reflective of a student’s overall grade, based on assignments and assessments given prior to the school closure. Some teachers are still entering grades for long-term projects submitted during the closure, but no grades for work assigned during Phase 1 and 2 of the learning plan (the past five weeks) will be included in the class grade. Students will have the opportunity to earn up to five additional points on their final grade, based on assignments completed during the 4th quarter (Phase 3 of our Continuity of Learning Plan – April 20 until the end of the school year). The five points will be based on work completion, and demonstrated level of mastery of the content/skills assessed.
