In an effort to strengthen emergency communications for families and staff, the East Penn School District is introducing SMS/text messages, email, and automated phone calls through a new platform called SchoolMessenger. In the upcoming 2021/2022 school year, SchoolMessenger will replace Swift K-12 for district and school communications regarding: daily absences, emergencies, safety alerts, school closings, school delays, and transportation notifications.
On Wednesday, August 25th a message was sent to parents/guardians, faculty, and staff with an invitation through a “short code” 67587 from SchoolMessenger in order to opt-in to receive text messages from East Penn.
“East Penn SD messages. Reply Y to subscribe or STOP to cancel. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies. Visit schoolmessenger.com/txt for info”
You must reply with a “Y” or “Yes” to opt into the messaging program. If you do not wish to opt-in, you can simply ignore the message or reply with “STOP.” This opt-in confirmation is required prior to families receiving important text messages from our district and schools. If you do not reply, you will not receive any further text messages. An automated phone call will be sent to parents the day before as a reminder to watch for this opt-in text message.
Participating carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile®, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Alltel, Boost, U.S. Cellular™, MetroPCS and other carriers. Please check with your wireless carrier for information about your mobile service plan and any possible charges related to text messaging. East Penn does not reimburse for any charges associated with sending or receiving text messages.
As a reminder, East Penn School District will continue to send routine information via our MailChimp system. School buildings and classrooms will still continue to communicate through SeeSaw and Schoology.
If you did not receive the text invitation and would like to opt in, please text Y to 67587.
