School counselors are available to support your child academically, socially, and emotionally during this time.
How to best access your child’s school counselor:
To access your child’s grade-level school counselor, please email the counselor listed below directly or click on the LMMS Guidance Counselor Meeting Request form to set up an appointment with your child’s grade level school counselor. A counselor will be in touch with you shortly via email or phone to set up a virtual discussion or meeting. Please be aware, when counselors are contacting you via phone, it may come up as a blocked number or a number that is out of the area. If it is an emergency or you believe your child is in crisis, please call Lehigh County Crisis (610-782-3127) or Safe to Say (1-844-723-2729; 1-844-SAF2SAY; https://www.safe2saypa.org/). Please continue to check the LMMS School Counseling website for updated information and resources.
How to access community resources for you or your family:
Please visit the K-12 School Counseling Website for Covid-19 and Distance Learning Resources for links to community resources. It is important to call ahead with all community resources to make sure they are still available given the current situation.
How to access Career Readiness Information:
To ensure that all students are career ready, the PA Department of Education requires students to complete career lessons and a total of six career artifacts by the end of their 8th grade year. Career artifact completion is reported in our school’s Future Ready Index. Students are encouraged to complete at least two career artifacts per middle school year. Please encourage your child to continue to work on their career artifacts during this time. All career artifacts can be found via the grade-level school counselor’s Google Classroom. Please encourage them to submit the completed career artifact to the grade-level counselor through Google Classroom. If your child is having difficulty with Google Classroom, you may also share it through Google with their counselor.
What should I know about the timeline for creating my child’s schedule for next year:
Information will be coming out later in April to explain the process for 6th to 7th grade course scheduling and 7th to 8th grade course scheduling. Stay tuned for more information. In the meantime, it is very important that you have access to PowerSchool. If you are unable to access PowerSchool, please contact your grade level school counselor and directions on how to access PowerSchool will be emailed to you.
For 8th to 9th grade course scheduling, course verification sheets were recently sent home at the beginning of March before school closed. If you have questions about your child’s course requests or need to make a change to the course requests for 9th grade, please contact Mrs. Shirvinski at lshirvinski@eastpennsd.org as soon as possible.
How to give to and access Angel Network support:
The Coronavirus Pandemic has created tremendous economic hardships for LMMS families. It has also made it more challenging for Angel Network to support our families in need with restrictions on travel and requirements of social distancing. With many families in need, our funds are limited. One way we can continue our support to families in need is by providing them with egift cards that can be purchased and sent via email. These egift cards can be purchased at Walmart.com. Please click on Directions on How to Donate a Walmart Egift Card to Angel Network families for more information. LMMS Angel Network appreciates all donations made to support our LMMS families. Please email Lisa Shirvinski at lshirvinski@eastpennsd.org for more information or questions.
If your family is in need of Angel Network support, please complete the Angel Network Support Form by clicking here. All information shared on the form is confidential. After completion of the form, your child’s grade level counselor will be in contact with you. If you are having any difficulty with the form, please email your child’s grade level counselor directly.
