LMMS Family Guide
October 26th, 2020
Starting October 26th, students will return to a Hybrid Learning Model (in-person 2-3 days per week / online 2-3 days per week) or Remote Learning Model (Online 5 days/week). Families have already indicated their preference based on the survey in August and a follow-up survey completed earlier this month. The next window to request a change in the instructional model will be November 9th-13th. Families who request a change at that time (to either hybrid or remote) will be able to start in their new learning model beginning Monday, November 23rd. Below we’ve included some important information regarding our transition on Monday, October 26th.
Attendance Guidelines: All students are expected to attend all classes, every day. Please review the attendance guidelines.
- On the days hybrid students are scheduled to attend “in-person,” they must attend in-person at school to be marked present. Students may not choose to attend remotely on days they are scheduled to be in-person.
- Students who report to school on days they are scheduled to learn remotely, will be sent home due to room capacity limitations.
Bell Schedule: All students will follow this daily bell schedule and attend classes at the times indicated. All students, regardless of hybrid or remote, will attend school (online or in-person) at the same time. This means teachers will be working with students in-person and on Zoom simultaneously.
- Hybrid (in-person and at-home) and Remote students will attend (in-person or virtually via Zoom) each class, every day.
- At-home Hybrid and Remote only students may be assigned time to work asynchronously on some days, but only after they check-in with their teachers and receive directions.
Calendar: This calendar provides an overview of which students attend in-person, on what days.
- Cohort A includes students with last names that begin with A-K.
- Cohort B includes students with last names that begin with L-Z.
Grades: Families are strongly encouraged to take time to check their child’s current grades on PowerSchool. Please note, grades in PowerSchool are the official grades (grades in Schoology may not reflect the accurate grade calculation). It will be important for families to have conversations with their children regarding any missing assignments/assessments, or grades that are concerning. If you are unsure of how to login to PowerSchool as a parent, please reach out to our LMMS office and someone will assist you.
Lockers/Backpacks: Students will be assigned lockers, but will only be able to access them at the beginning and end of the day. The lockers will be used for coats, sports/music equipment, and phones only. Students are encouraged and permitted to bring and carry a backpack throughout the day. There are very few classes that assign a textbook, so the backpack load should not be too significant.
Lunch & Meal Service Information: Students will have two options for lunch each day. Additional lunch and meal service information can be found by clicking on the link.
Masks: Students are expected to wear a mask every day. Students may be given short mask breaks at different times throughout the day, as directed in the EPSD Health and Safety Plan. Masks must also be worn at all times on the bus.
Medication Drop-Off: We have scheduled a medication drop off for next week’s returning secondary students on Friday October 23, from 11-1. An EPSD nurse to be in the building to accept medications from parents. Please check-in, in the main office. We ask that medications be in the original labeled container, accompanied by a medical authorization signed by both the physician and the parent. As a reminder, medications will only be accepted if brought to school by an adult.
Water Bottles: Students are encouraged to bring a plastic water bottle to school. They may carry them throughout the day. Although there will be no water fountain use, we are having some water bottle filling stations installed some time soon.
