Dear Parents, Guardians, Caregivers,
On Thursday April 18th, LMMS will hold our first ever “Pause for the Cause” fundraiser during school hours. Pause for the Cause is our culminating service project as members of our partnership with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Throughout the day, LMMS students will have the opportunity to participate in various core team or school wide activities to raise money for this worthwhile cause and also have opportunities to create tangible products for patients currently residing in Lehigh Valley Hospital as well as Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Examples of fundraising activities offered include a faculty car wash, volleyball tournament, yard sale, cafeteria photo booth and various outdoor activities. In addition, each grade will assemble in our auditorium to hear an inspirational message from a current Easton middle school teacher and lymphoma survivor who will speak about her journey and experiences in battling this illness.
Fundraising activities will require a minor donation of $1, directly donated to further the LLS mission. Other cost free offerings will be available. Examples of these sessions include creating inspirational greeting cards for patients, care/calm jars, poetry, and more. Students will sign up for their activities next week.
In preparation for this inaugural event, we sold 244 t-shirt packages consisting of a t-shirt, wristband and a raffle ticket for a chance to throw a pie at an administrator during 9th period. This event will be broadcast on Facebook live. The website will be posted and available next week for your viewing pleasure. At this point, LMMS is more than halfway to our student driven fundraising goal of $10,000. Over the past two years, LMMS has donated $13,000 to LLS and we are on our way to making this our largest donation in three years! Mr. Luckenbill has agreed to allow the student who raises the most funds to shave his head provided our school goal is reached.
While one objective is to raise money for LLS awareness, our primary objective is to show the collective strength we have as an LMMS family and community. We are a PROUD school and excited to take pause, and show what we can accomplish when we work as a team. You are all cordially invited to join us at BJ’s restaurant located in the Hamilton Crossing as we celebrate our collaborative efforts and reflect on the cause. 20% of all food purchased from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on April 18 will be donated to LLS on behalf of LMMS.
