The student receiving Homebound Instruction is retained on the active roll and marked with an H for Homebound. The homebound instructor shall notify the regular classroom teacher and/or attendance office when instruction cannot be given due to the physical incapacity of the student. These days should be counted as absent from school.
In addition, the homebound instructor must also contact the appropriate principal at the elementary level or the guidance counselor at the middle and high school levels to inform them as to the date that Homebound Instruction has begun.
A student who is not present for instruction for a total of three (3) sessions, unless excused for medical reasons, will no longer be eligible for Homebound Instruction.
Part-Time Attendance in School Receiving Partial Homebound Instruction:
A school district may structure Homebound Instruction for a student such that the student attends school part-time, as his or her condition allows. Homebound Instructino requests need not be restricted to students who are unable to attend school at all. This is a local decision.
