Dear East Penn Families,
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. As you may already be aware, building our social-emotional learning (SEL) skills is an important goal for our school this year.
This spring, the majority of students will complete the questionnaire at school. Our VESPA students will have the opportunity to complete the survey at home. We hope this will allow us to gather more accurate data. This data point will continue to provide a clearer picture of areas of strengths and needs which school leaders will use to guide change efforts.
During the month of May, we will be asking for your child to reflect on their own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey they will be completing at school. The survey will go live for students in grades 3-5 on Monday, May 23, 2022 and should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The survey window will close on Friday, May 27, 2022. Students in grades K-2 will not participate.
The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on survey topics including Emotion Regulation, Challenging Feelings, Self-Management, and Positive Feelings.
We are asking that all of our students in grades 3-5 participate in this survey as their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether.
Following this survey administration, building team members will review results to continue to plan for meaningful social emotional learning activities for the upcoming school year.
We are using the Panorama tool to support us in administering these surveys. You may view the social-emotional learning survey questions for elementary students HERE.
If you have any questions about the SEL survey, please don’t hesitate to contact Wescosville Elementary School. You may also notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the survey by contacting Wescosville Elementary School at 610-395-5851 by Monday, May 2, 2022.
