We are holding a fundraiser to help defer costs for the Shoemaker
garden. Students will plant the garden during Earth Week. We are selling seed packets of wildflowers for $1.00. The packet reads; "Commit Random Acts of Kindness and Senseless Acts of Beauty!" Please consider purchasing a packet of seeds or 2 or 3 for your family and friends and plant seeds of kindness so we can plant the Shoemaker garden. Please fill out the order form and return to your child’s teacher.
Orders are due by April 19th.
The stage is set and the Shoemaker talent scouts are searching for talented students to perform in our annual talent show! The talent show is open to all students in kindergarten through fifth grades. Later in the spring, each grade level will produce its own talent show for the students in that particular grade. From these separate grade level talent shows, select acts will be chosen to perform at an all-school assembly at the end of the year. Dates and audition information for each grade will be sent home later in the spring.
Due to the size of our school we must limit the number of acts. To help us prepare for the talent shows, we would like to survey our students to see who is interested in performing.
In Mile Club news…
It’s been a long winter, but it's finally time for
the students to trade in their snow boots for their
walking shoes!
We're expecting the kids will be able to get back
on the track the week of 4/8. Hope for warm, dry
weather so we can keep adding up those miles
while getting more fit (we went over 1,000 miles
in the fall!).

We are a volunteer group of parents, teachers, staff and community members who provide basic material assistance to Shoemaker students on an immediate, short-term basis. We are part of a "giving network" linked by phone and email activated when student needs are identified by the caring faculty and staff at Shoemaker. We provide resources such as: groceries, shoes, clothing, medicine, school supplies, toiletries, doctor's exams, special gifts and cash for specific needs. If you would like to volunteer to be a "giver", please email Stacey Slaski at staceynicholas@yahoo.com. If you or someone you know could benefit from the Angel Network's help, please contact Mrs Ringer at bringer@eastpennsd.org or 610-965-1626 ext 33008
1.Birthdays - Due to the increase in food sensitivity and allergies,we are no longer going to allow food birthday treats in our classrooms at Shoemaker. Knowing how important birthdays are to our students, we will continue to recognize student birthdays on our PTO monthly birthday board displayed in the hallway of the lobby area. Additionally, if you are interested, you may send in non-edible "treats" for your child's class on his or her birthday.
2, Celebrations - Other classroom celebrations, dates and healthy food items, will be arranged at the discretion of each classroom teacher. Please pay close attention to communication from your child's teacher regarding those special events.
Parents: We ask that you please park your car in a parking space if you will be at school for any extended period of time. Please do not block the drop off lane.We also kindlly ask that children only get on and off buses at their assigned bus stop unless there is a bus pass. Thank You!
Attenton Parents: We need to collect 2 tons of paper per month! Did you know that you can recycle paper, newspapers, catalogs, magazines, junk mail, weekly advertisement circulars, TV Guides, folders, construction and poster paper, shredded paper, spiral notebook/theme books, office and school mail 24 hours a day 7 days a week at our school? Did you also know that we earn money for paper that is dropped off at our school in the green and yellow recycling bin?
Shoemaker Elementary School and the community as a team, will teach students how to learn while providing academic opportunities and direction so that every student will achieve his/her highest potential and be prepared for life in a changing world. We will create and maintain a safe environment with a nurturing and knowledgeable staff.
