During most of my 28 years in education, I have worked with middle school students as a Social Studies teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal of Lower Macungie Middle School here in East Penn. I joined the Macungie Elementary community in July 2019. The opportunity to work with elementary students, families, faculty and staff is truly remarkable and enormously rewarding.
Macungie Elementary offers diverse classroom experiences, rigorous curriculum, and a supportive learning community to help our student’s academic, social and emotional growth. Our school wide positive behavior program, R.O.A.R.S. helps reinforce and celebrate students success across all aspects of our programming. Our R.O.A.R.S. acronym stands for Respect, Organization, Acceptance, Responsibility, Safety and Success. Our students have been taught the expectations for each trait in the classroom, hallways & stairs, cafeteria, playground, bathroom and bus. Students are acknowledged for meeting these expectations with Cool Cat tickets and R.O.A.R.S. raffles. Staff and parents work together in helping our students R.O.A.R.S. to success.
Outside of the classroom students have the opportunity to join a variety of activities. Through a thriving Instrumental and Vocal music program, Community Service Club, Art Club, Drama Club, Girls on the Run and Science Explorers, our students can show off their talents and passions!
We value the strong partnership we build with our families. Our teachers are in frequent contact with parents celebrating the growth and progress of their students. The Macungie PTO is very active and offers exciting student and family activities throughout the school year.
