DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

September PTO Meeting – Join us for our next PTO meeting on tonight, September 9th, at 6:00 PM in the Learning Lab. Come hear about upcoming events, share your ideas, and learn how you can get involved in supporting our students and school community. We look forward to seeing you there!

🥨 September PAWS Pretzel Day 🥨 – The first PAWS Pretzel Day of the school year will be held this Thursday, September 11th, during 9th period,  interested students will be able to purchase a soft pretzel for $1. Don’t miss it, pretzels go fast!

Eyer Attire Sale – Eyer PTO drip drop! The annual online Spirit wear Sale is live The PTO has leveled up the designs this year, so peep the fresh fits and rep Eyer with style. Every purchase = support for PTO programming + major school pride. Don’t sleep on it! 👉 You can place your order with this link.

Fall Play Cast – The first two rehearsals will be Sept 9 & 11th after school until 4pm in the auditorium.  There will be a late bus available those days if you need transportation home. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you attend both of these rehearsals. Any questions, please see Ms. Najarian or Mrs. Knecht as soon as possible. Looking forward to seeing all of you soon!

8th Grade Art Contest – Eyer Art Department Presents the 8th Grade Student Art Contest! This contest is open to all 8th grade students who are interested in showcasing their artistic talent. Interested students should see Mr. Willett in Room 222 for more details about the contest. Four participants will win a FREE 10 Week Art Course at the Baum School of Art as a prize for their outstanding submissions. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to enhance your artistic skills and earn a fantastic reward!

Lions Club Peace Poster Art Contest – The Eyer Art Department is excited to announce the 2025 Lions Club Peace Poster Contest! Student artists have the chance to win prize money for First, Second, and Third place, as well as a free dinner for you and your family. Students interested in participating, please reach out to Mr. Willett in Room 222 for further details and to collect your poster paper. We can’t wait to see your creativity in action!

Hispanic Heritage Month Guacamole Workshop – Mr. Solano will be hosting a hands-on cooking experience on October 7th during 9th Period, where interested students will learn how to make their own fresh guacamole! 🥑 Guided by the owner and head chef of Lu Taqueria in Bethlehem, participants will explore the ingredients, techniques, and rich flavors behind this classic dish. Space is limited, students who would like to participate should sign up in the Library.

STEM in the Library Activity – Join Mr. Solano in the Library for an exciting hands-on science experiment with local scientist Brooke Coonrod on October 10th during 9th Period! 🔬 Students will discover how everyday items, like a potato, can create electricity to power a light bulb or even a small propeller. This fun, interactive activity is perfect for anyone interested in learning more about chemical reactions. Space is limited, students who would like to participate should sign up in the Library.

Library Advisory Board – Looking for a way to get involved and shape your school’s library? Join the Library Advisory Board, a student-led group that works with the school librarian to make the library a special place. If you’re interested in joining, please see Mr. Solano in the library for an application.

September PAWS Cookie Day – The first PAWS Cookie Day of the school year is Friday, September 26th! Students wearing green, gold, or Eyer attire will receive a cookie of their choice during each lunch period. PAWS Cookie Day is a long-standing Eyer tradition, fully supported by donations from our school community. Families can contribute through the PAWS Cookie Day Sign-Up Genius or via Venmo (@Eyer-Connection)—please label contributions as “Cookie Day.” Thank you for helping keep this beloved tradition alive for our students!

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

Calling all nature lovers and environmentalists! Join the E.M.S. Green Team, Eyer’s new sustainability club! The Green Team will explore environmental issues and solutions, spend time outdoors, and plan ways to connect to local organizations or outdoor adventures. The Green Team will meet Tuesdays starting next Tuesday, September 16th. See Mr. Scherer in 522 for details!

The Eyer Ski and Snowboard Club: We take 4 trips to Blue Mountain Resort in January and February.  Experienced and new skiers and riders are welcome to join.  If you are interested in learning more, stop by Ms. Berndt’s room, room 104 during homeroom or 9th period for an information packet.  The packet gives detailed instructions on how to join the club.  See Miss England or Ms. Berndt with any questions.

Best Buddies – Students interested in learning more about Best Buddies are invited to an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 9, during 9th period in the auditorium. Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation of individuals with disabilities. Since this is an application based club, the meeting will provide details about the application process. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Hastie in Room 122.

Chess Club – We are starting the Chess Club soon! Join us if you love chess and want to play or learn how to.  All levels welcome! We will meet on Thursdays after school, starting next week on September 11th. Space is limited, so if you are interested or have any questions, see Mrs. Mendez in room 650 and sign up. We look forward to seeing you there!

Crochet Club – Students interested in learning the art of crochet in a fun, welcoming space can do so after school on Tuesdays starting September 16th. Whether you’re a beginner or already know a few stitches, you’ll create projects you can be proud of. To join, pick up a permission slip in the Guidance Office. We are always accepting fiber donations if any family has yarn to spare. Donations could be brought to the Main Office. 

Four Square Club – The Eyer Four Square Club will begin meeting after school on Thursdays, starting September 11th (weather permitting). 🌟 Spaces are limited, so be sure to sign up with Mrs. Gaines in the Main Office.

Jazz Band – The Eyer Jazz Band is a performance group that plays Jazz Music.  Instruments in a Jazz Band are:  Saxophones, Trumpets, Trombones, Baritones, Tuba, Drum Set, Piano, Bass, and Electric Guitar.  Students interested in playing drum set, piano, bass, or guitar must have experience on those instruments, must take private lessons on those instruments, and must audition to be in the group.  Rehearsals are mostly Tuesdays after school until 4:00 p.m. September 23 through early May.  If you are interested in being a member of the Jazz Band, please go to the band room (room 316) to read the information and put your name on the sign-up sheet.  You have through the end of the day on Thursday, September 11 to sign up. See Miss England with any questions.

Kid to Kid Jr – New 7th and 8th grade students that are interested in joining Kid to Kid, the first meeting will be after school on Thursday, September 18th. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Hackman or Mrs. Snow

Mathcounts Club – Mathcounts is a national middle school program that makes math engaging and fun through enrichment, coaching, and competitions. Eyer’s Mathcounts team kicks off the season on Thursday, September 18th! Students interested in participating should stop by Mrs. Hummell’s Room 507 for meeting dates and more details. If you enjoy solving math problems and puzzles, working on a team, and competing while building new skills, this is the club for you!

Multicultural Club – Celebrate diversity by learning about and sharing traditions, cultures, and perspectives from around the world on Thursdays starting September 18th. Together, we will build understanding, respect, and unity within our school community. 

No Place for Hate Club – No Place for Hate is looking for new members! Join us in making Eyer a place where everyone feels welcome and valued. Our first meeting will be held on Monday, September 16th after school in Sra. Kannenberg’s Room 621. Please plan for pickup by 4:00 PM or sign up for the late bus.

Reading Olympics Team – Love to read? Want to discuss books and play some fun trivia games? Then you should join the Reading Olympics Club! We meet two or three times a month and will be preparing for a regional competition at the end of the school year. You can read as much or as little as you like, so come on and get in on the fun! Ready to join? Sign up outside Room 636.

Walking Club – The Eyer Walking Club starts on September 9th! 🚶‍♀️🚶 Stop by the Main Office to sign up and pick up a permission slip to walk off campus. The club will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays to start.

Writer’s Club – If you are interested in joining Writer’s club, it is starting on Tuesday, September 9th in room 635. If you have questions please contact Ms Glowacki in room 635. Looking forward to seeing you!

RECURRING

Chromebooks

Students should develop a consistent routine to charge their Chromebooks every night to ensure they’re prepared for class each day. Creating a plan, such as designating a specific charging spot and setting a reminder before bedtime, can help make this habit stick.

Late Bus

The after school late bus is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays only and you must sign up by 10:00 AM of the day you need to take it. The sign-up form is accessed via Clever on your Chromebook.

Lost & Found

There are two places to look for lost and found items. The table in the commons is often where clothing, water bottles, and lunch boxes are placed. If there is something more valuable like eye glasses, jewelry, retainers, or earbuds, please check at the front desk in the Main Office.

Weis4School Rewards Program

The Weis4School Rewards Program allows schools to earn funds to support their programs when families shop at Weis.
