Congratulations to the Emmaus High School Class of 2023

On June 11, 2023, the Emmaus High School Class of 2023 walked across the stage at the PPL Center to receive their diplomas. This graduation ceremony at the PPL Center is always the highlight of the EHS academic year. It was the perfect day for our teachers, administrators, and families to join the graduates in celebrating the successful completion of an exciting high school career. For these young adults, this ceremony represents a defining moment in their lives.

The Emmaus High School Orchestra performed during the processional with Pomp and Circumstance and the National Anthem. The Emmaus High School Chorale performed the Emmaus High School Alma Mater and Mrs. Beth Guarriello, Principal of Emmaus High School, welcomed the crowd and introduced the members of the Class of 1973. Ninth grade principal, Jordan Fortier, then introduced this year’s Dr. Herman Corradetti Academic Hall of Fame Award inductee, Madeleine Hess. Maddie was honored for exemplifying scholarship, leadership, service, and volunteerism throughout her time at Emmaus High School.

In the area of scholarship, Maddie has excelled academically and has been recognized with numerous awards during their four years at Emmaus High School. This student is a National AP Scholar with Honors and has received numerous honors for academics in the areas of World Language, Science, and Social Studies, the Daughters of the Revolution Good Citizen Award, and a cumulative GPA of 4.40.

This student has been a proven leader not only in school but in the community.  They have been the leader in various clubs, activities, and organizations, including the Student Government Association, French Club, Mock Trial Club, and the Principal’s Advisory Committee and others.  Her service did not end at school but thrived in community as well. She was active in tutoring students from elementary to high school, summer camp counselor, leading book clubs, and assistant manager at a local bookstore.

In the area of Service and Volunteerism, Maddie was a Hornet Ambassador giving up time to help new students during freshmen orientation, back to school nights, and other events at school.  They have been an advocate for social justice and equal rights for all throughout their high school journey, as a founding member of the Students Organizing Against Racism, and has volunteered on Susan Wilde’s campaign team since 2021.

Maddie is planning on attending the College of William and Mary in the fall and will be majoring in History. Congratulations, Maddie!

The graduation ceremony continued with student representatives taking the stage. Class of 2023 President, Benjamin Eustice; President of the National Honor Society, Madison Shelton; LCTI Representative, Reanna Istrate; and Class of 2023 Representative, Madeleine Hess captivated their audience with speeches about the events and memories of the past decade that have shaped them into who they are today. After all of the graduates were announced, School Board President, Dr. Joshua Levinson, declared the Class of 2023 graduated.

Graduating from school is a significant milestone which marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and personal growth. Congratulations to all the graduates for their achievements and best wishes for the exciting journey that lies ahead for each one of you. Whether you’re continuing your education, entering the workforce, or pursuing other endeavors, may you find success and fulfillment in everything you do!
