Dear East Penn Families,

On behalf of our administrative team, I am excited to welcome you back to the 2023-2024 school year! Our students and staff had a great first week of school, and I am optimistic that this positive start is indicative of a year filled with academic and personal growth and the ongoing development of supportive relationships.

We are committed to continually improving our schools to benefit our students. You will note that our priorities continue to focus on safety & security; instruction & intervention; and equity.

Safety & Security- We continually refine our practices and procedures with regard to the District’s safety preparedness and response. Through the use of state grant funds, we have made enhancements to the physical safety of our school buildings. Attending to our students’ emotional safety also remains a priority. State grant funds will also help to support two additional school counselors to support the development of our social and emotional learning (SEL) program and the implementation of behavioral interventions at all levels.

Instruction & Intervention (MTSS)- We are dedicated to supporting the diverse needs of all learners through the use of high quality instructional strategies and interventions. To support students’ behavioral needs, we will offer school-based mental health supports through a partnership with LVHN and are seeking to extend these supports by partnering with other health networks. We are excited to have our student advisors continue at the secondary level as well as the STEP program to support secondary students.

Equity- We will continue our work removing barriers to learning and fairly distributing access, opportunity, and participation for all students. In addition, we support our staff members in creating an equitable learning environment for all students.

Throughout the summer, representatives from the facilities committees met to process feedback from the Facility Inquiry Teams (FIT) and community survey that was administered in June 2023. As a reminder, all work related to our facilities is available on the District website. This fall, we plan to share the options that are still being considered to address capacity needs and changes to our educational facilities to reflect the priorities described above.

Our team is committed to supporting students in their educational journey in East Penn. We appreciate your continued support and partnership as we navigate through this journey together!

Sincerely,

Kristen Campbell, Ed.D.
