East Penn School District has been awarded the prestigious Great Pennsylvania School designation. This recognition honors Pennsylvania public schools that provide students with access to rigorous programming, are community-centric, demonstrate financial well-being, and display resilience.
“This recognition reflects the extraordinary commitment of our East Penn students, faculty, staff, families, and community, who collectively make our schools places of excellence and opportunity,” said Dr. Kristen Campbell, Superintendent of Schools.
To receive this designation, districts must meet specific criteria in four key categories:
- Academic Rigor: Districts must confirm that 100% of their teachers are certified and that students have access to career and technical education, gifted education, and advanced placement or international baccalaureate courses.
- Community Centerpiece: Districts must demonstrate innovation in school programming, regularly celebrate student and staff successes, and provide diverse academic and extracurricular offerings.
- Resilience: Districts must implement comprehensive emergency preparedness plans and provide robust mental health supports for students.
- Financial Health: Districts must conduct annual financial audits, make budgets available for public review before adoption, and follow School Code requirements for bids and quotations.
