The Students in Transition Educational Program (STEP) provides short-term, school-based support for students facing challenges that affect attendance, engagement, or academic success. In a small, structured, and highly supportive setting, students continue their coursework while receiving individualized academic and social emotional interventions.
Students may access varying levels of support, including full- or partial-day STEP programming, check-in/check-out, STEP homeroom, or small-group services, depending on their individual needs. Each student’s plan is developed collaboratively during an intake meeting and includes targeted skill-building in areas such as self-regulation, coping strategies, mindfulness, resilience, and executive functioning.
STEP prioritizes relationships, belonging, and a safe, inclusive environment. STEP is intended as a short-term intervention (2–6 weeks), with extensions based on student needs and progress. Enrollment is determined through a referral process, and program capacity is limited.
