Virtual East Penn Academy

What is Vespa?

The Virtual East Penn Academy (VESPA) is a full-time, online learning option that allows K-12 students to engage in asynchronous online coursework from home while maintaining enrollment in the East Penn School District. This cyber program is free of charge for all families residing in the East Penn School District. New enrollments are accepted prior to the start of each new marking period.

Sessions are open to all K-12 families residing in the East Penn School District. Attend an information session in person at the East Penn School District Administration Building (800 Pine Street, Emmaus)on a date listed below OR Register to receive a link to attend a session listed below virtually.

Students issued an East Penn School District diploma upon meeting graduation requirements
Flexible learning environment that meets the varied needs of students
Dedicated team of East Penn School District staff including the Director of Educational Alternatives, EPSD teachers, school counselors and support staff serving VESPA students and families
K-12 courses offered through online learning vendors vetted by the Capital Area Online Learning Association and supported by Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit (IU21)
Dual enrollment online course options offered through Lehigh Carbon Community College
Access to online and in-person support in EPSD’s virtual learning elementary and secondary classrooms
Developmentally appropriate blend of asynchronous and synchronous learning for elementary students
Opportunity to participate in EPSD clubs, athletics, and events in school buildings
Onboarding of students, academic content support, attendance monitoring and intervention plans to help students find success provided by EPSD staff
K-12 VESPA student and parent community events offered to VESPA families
Technology supplied and supported by EPSD
Emphasis is placed on creating a sense of belonging and community for all students
