Eyer School Supplies

26-27 School Supplies

Eyer School Community,

As we prepare for another great school year, we wanted to share general school supply recommendations for students entering grades 6, 7, and 8. A summary of the recommended supplies for each grade level can be found in the graphic above.

While individual teachers may provide information about a few additional course-specific items during the first week of school, purchasing the supplies listed here will ensure your child is well prepared for a successful start to the school year.

A Few Helpful Tips

KEEP IT PRACTICAL
Middle school students are constantly on the move, traveling between multiple classrooms each day, which means personal belongings are occasionally misplaced or lost. For that reason, we encourage families to purchase durable, functional school supplies rather than expensive designer or name-brand items. While families are certainly welcome to purchase higher-end items if they choose, it’s important to recognize that backpacks, water bottles, personal technology, pencil pouches, headphones, and other everyday supplies are frequently misplaced, left behind or lost.

Although your student may insist that “everyone has” the latest water bottle, wireless headphones, or other trending item, the reality is that investing significant money in items for middle school students can present challenges. Beyond the financial cost of replacing lost items, it can also create unnecessary stress and anxiety for students and families when those belongings are misplaced. Choosing practical, clearly labeled supplies helps students stay organized and makes it much easier for lost items to be identified and returned.

LABEL EVERYTHING
One of the easiest ways to increase the chances of lost items being returned is to clearly label your child’s belongings. We recommend placing your student’s name on backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles, pencil cases, binders, calculators, headphones, and other personal items. Waterproof labels from companies such as Name Bubbles or similar labeling products work especially well and hold up throughout the school year.
