How to Help your Child with Homework

Tips for Success

Create structure

Organization: Help your child get organized and stay focused by breaking down homework into smaller chunks and creating a timeline. You can also try using a timer to divide homework into timed segments.
Use a Calendar/Planner: Use of a calendar or planner will allow student to keep assignments and due dates organized.
Limit distractions: Try to create a positive study environment away from phone, TV, Video games, electronics.
Encourage: Be empathetic and positive. You can ask about their assignments, check their completed work, and make yourself available for questions. Encourage them to: Be in School, Be Prepared, Take Notes, Ask For help
Be Informed: See next slide for Schoology and PowerSchool information
