Academic Team

Congratulations to the EHS Academic Team for starting off the year with three wins!  Our JV Team beat Dieruff and Allen by a score of 110 to 75 to 70.  Our Varsity Team beat Dieruff and Allen by a score of 115 to 85 to 30.  Our Scholastic Scrimmage Team also beat Bethlehem Central Catholic by a score of 355 to 60.  The Scholastic Scrimmage match can be viewed on Channel 39 on December 15th

Late Bus

The late bus will run Tuesdays and Thursdays. The bus picks up around 3:15pm at door #4.  You may only use the late bus for clubs or detention. You must sign up in the Main office on the day of the late bus by 10:30am.

Chromebook / IT Help

The IT department  will hold  Chromebook support for students  during Hornet Homeroom (10:18 – 10:55) and from 2 to 2:30 pm outside the library entrance.

** Thursdays only, there will be NO tech support during Hornet homeroom, ONLY  AT 2-2:25PM **

Parking

There have been issues with faculty/student parking, please make sure to park in your assigned numbered spot. If there is another car parked in your spot, please take a picture of the license plate.   Send the picture to Gina Jones at gjones@eastpennsd.org then park your car in the parallel spots next to the sidewalk in Lot J by the Auditorium.

Peer Tutoring

Peer Student Tutoring is back and will be available during Hornet Homeroom in the HIVE.  If you are interested in meeting with a tutor, please complete the 2023-24 Student Tutoring Request Form.  Keep in mind that it may take a couple of days to pair you up with a tutor, so please be patient while waiting for a response.  This information can also be found in your “Class of” Schoology groups and the website. 

Hoby Leadership Seminar

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES  –  Any 10th grader who is interested in leadership development training at the 2023-2024 HOBY Leadership Seminar, please complete an application via this Google Form. All forms must be completed by Friday, Oct. 27th at 2:30 pm, no exceptions. Good luck! Mrs. Spotts

EHS Field Study Program

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Sick of sitting in study halls with nothing to do?  Would you like a more productive way to spend your time and gain valuable career experience? Consider signing up for the EHS Field Study program. Field Study offers students the opportunity to gain real world experience in a career of their choice while earning academic credit. Placements are available in a variety of careers including construction, education, insurance, law, hospitality, interior design and more! If you are a current junior or senior with a study hall Blocks 1 or 4 or late arrival/early dismissal you could be eligible to add Field Study to your schedule for the Spring semester.  Please see our website for the application or contact Mrs. Duffy at kduffy@eastpennsd.org for more information.  

School Store

The School Store will be open during Hornet Homeroom everyday (10:18 – 10:55).  Students that come, need to have a signed pass from the homeroom teacher. 

Little Women

The EHS Theater Department presents…Little Women

The Emmaus High School Theater Department will present Little Women by Kate Hamill. The play, an adaptation of the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott, will be presented on November 2,3, and 4 at 7:00 PM in the EHS auditorium. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens, and can be reserved online via the EHS website beginning October 18. Tickets will also be available at the door. Senior citizen gold card holders may present gold cards at the door to receive a complimentary ticket to any performance.

Student Athlete Online Recruiting Workshop
·         ATTENTION! Athletes & Parents! If you want to play sports in college consider registering to attend this FREE Virtual Recruiting Seminar called “The ABC’s of College Recruiting for Athletes & Parents” on Tuesday, October 24th at 8 p.m. est.  This Seminar is for Athletes in grades 7-12 that have aspirations of playing College Sports, and their Parents and Coaches.  Watch it together as a family from the comfort and safety of your HOME Laptop/PC/Notebook, etc.      This Nationally Acclaimed program will be conducted by National Recruiting Expert, Rick Wire & “Special           Guest” Coy Wire, Stanford Graduate, 9-yr. Clubs

  • There will be an informational meeting for students interested in the National Parks Club in the Multimedia Room on Monday, October 23, from 230-3. Please attend if you’re interested in learning more about the club, plans for the school year, and possible ideas for next summer.   • Habitat for Humanity will be selling donuts for $2  before school in the HIVE Thursday mornings. 
  • The Young Republicans Club will meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month. Our next meeting is Wednesday, November 1st, from 2:30-3:30 PM in room 310. All are welcome! For more information, please see Mrs. Smeltz in room 319, or join our Schoology group (access code V7KF-3XNJ-J65F7). 
  • Are you 18, or will you turn 18 by October 23rd? If you answered yes to either question, you are eligible to vote in the general election to be held on November 7th, 2023!   • The Interact Club is partnering with Lower Macungie Township and collecting various items to support the troops again this year. Items include toiletries, Granola/energy bars (no chocolate), gum and candy (no chocolate), Tablets, pens, markers, and socks (brown or black). More items needed (puzzles, crossword, board games,footballs, playing cards) can be found in the bulletin. Donations can be dropped off outside to Mrs. Kauntiz, room 216, at any time. The collection will run until November 11th. Thanks so much! 
  • Want to work on PSAT/SAT prep?  The SAT prep club has started and is meeting on Fridays during Hornet HR in the Black Box.  Please join our Schoology group using code: QPVB-R6P5-VTM9B for registration, information on how to get a pass to attend and more SAT prep information.  If you have any questions, reach out to Mrs Kinzel in room 224.
  • The EHS Activism Club meets every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month in Mrs. Kinzel’s room, 224. This club focuses on involving the student body within the local community, as well as having a unique Day of Action centered around one major social issue– all while keeping a neutral perspective. We hope to see you there!
  • The Bible Study Club! We will be meeting Tuesdays from 6:45 – 7:15 in Room 254. Come spend some time with us learning scripture and fellowshipping with other students! You can enter through the door right by the Counseling suite at 6:45. Hope to see you there! Join the Bible Study Club Schoology group for more information: 22D5-XNX5-J3Q24. 
  • The Interact Club will continue to collect soda tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.   Please drop off at Mrs. Kaunitz’s room, 216.
  • The Steel Hornets robotics team has started meetings.  If you are interested in

participating, stop into room 123 after school any afternoon except Fridays.

  • Open gym for freshman boys will run on Wednesdays from 2:45pm-4:30pm.  Please wait in the lobby of the main gym until it is time to begin. Reach out to Coach Hoderewski in Room 323 or email him with any questions.
