EHS Hosts 2022 National Library Week Contest

Just before Easter, after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, the EHS Library resurrected its annual puzzle contest in recognition of National Library Week. The five-day event, during which faculty, staff and students complete library-themed puzzles for a chance at prizes, ran from April 4-8. The EHS Library partnered with Wawa to supply winners with store gift cards of varying amounts, Wawa coupon packs, and/or tumblers and drink koozies.

There was one puzzle challenge daily, and the level of puzzle complexity increased as the week progressed. Each day multiple winning names were randomly pulled from all correct entries submitted to the library by 2:30 PM, with additional winners selected on the final day. In total, 31 students and 11 faculty/staff members scored Wawa goodies.

The 2022 post-COVID comeback saw a huge level of contest participation. Several teachers walked entire classes of students to the library to work on the puzzles each day and used the activity as a “brain break” during the longer, block scheduled classes. The contest will return next spring, hopefully with another local business sponsor on board!
